The GOP's Agenda

How bout this one? In my fair state of California this showed up. Was it some lunatic? Was it some lone goofball? Was it some crazy racist with way too much time on his hands? Well, not exactly. This image and others like it were until yesterday up on the official Republican website for Sacramento County. Yeah, the GOP is responsible for this.

Sacramento County Republican leaders Tuesday took down offensive material on their official party Web site that sought to link Sen. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden and encouraged people to "Waterboard Barack Obama" – material that offended even state GOP leaders.

But [county party chairman Craig MacGlashan] defended his Web site. "I'm aware of the content," he said. "Some people find it offensive, others do not. I cannot comment on how people interpret things."

By Tuesday night, much of the questionable material – which ranged from depicting Obama in a turban to attacking Michelle Obama – had been removed, replaced with political cartoons attacking Obama.

So much for that "Obama's a decent family man" stuff, eh, Senator McCain?

Buckley Gets Booted

After Christopher Buckley's endorsement of Barack Obama last week he got the boot from the magazine his father founded, The National Review. Seems his decision wasn't well received by the readers or the staff. He has moved on, but he has a few things to say about it:

So, I have been effectively fatwahed (is that how you spell it?) by the conservative movement, and the magazine that my father founded must now distance itself from me. But then, conservatives have always had a bit of trouble with the concept of diversity. The GOP likes to say it’s a big-tent. Looks more like a yurt to me.

So, to paraphrase a real conservative, Ronald Reagan: I haven’t left the Republican Party. It left me.

Leave The Gun; Take The Cannoli

Palin appeared on Limbaugh's radio show today and he praised her endlessly about taking on Obama's various, nefarious connections (while Rush did who knows what under his desk). But the odd and amusing part came when he asked her what her plans were after November 4th. She answered, "That's a good question."

Even the two of them can't keep up the charade.

The McCain campaign has, without McCain's knowledge or approval, become nothing more than a PR junket to set the stage for Palin's 2012 run for the White House. Poor John, he has become a tool and nothing more. The maverick's being taken for a ride - "leave the gun; take the cannoli."

OMG

Oct, 13, 2008, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mcnarney.com

I thought this race would get ugly but I had no idea.

McCain Camp Now Offering Spiffs

As a sign of how bad things are in the McCain campaign, they are trying to recruit volunteers in Florida with incentives. If you make a 1000 calls for McCain you get a $100 gas card. If you knock on 100 doors you get a $50 card. But wait! There's more! The volunteer who makes the most calls or knocks on the most doors gets to meet McCain. The second place finisher in both categories gets to meet Palin.

Whoa, gas cards! Get those volunteers thinking, "Hey, why does gas cost so much anyway?" Oh, and it doesn't motivate the party faithful if they're all shooting for second place.
