Here It Comes

I stopped by my local Chevron this morning to pick up a paper. The owner, Mike, and I had a little chat. He informed me gas was going up 20 cents a gallon today. Seems he gets a fax from his supplier a couple of times a week giving him his wholesale cost. This week he has gotten one that raised his cost every night since Monday. The fax last night and the night before each raised it 8 cents. He expected another tonight. Today's increase will take regular to $4.35 a gallon.

Overnight crude oil went to $135 a barrel.

This is going to get bad, folks.

The long emergency is under way, indeed. When we didn't run out of the stuff immediately in the late '70s, apparently most folk came to believe that there was an infinite supply of the stuff. The folly, the horror, the body, the blood, the machine....
