The single example of this - my guiltiest pleasure for nearly a quarter century - is a mindless, lyrically twitish, little ditty from a pair of otherwise whiny popsters. But it rules my airwaves and this morning it got its first play o' the season. It just makes me happy to hear it. Pure cotton candy.
What's your guiltiest summer aural pleasure?
Hey, if Patti Smith can cover it, I can't be alone.

apop,
Yes, I may have told you that this also is way way up on my list of fave tunes ever, summer or not.
Also add to that list "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, "Boys of Summer" by Donny H. and of course, "I Hate You", by The Brighton Dafts.
I love anything by the Brighton Dafts
"Boys of Summer," I'm embarrassed to say.
Boys of Summer seems to be one of those that gets under your skin and never goes away like a rash. I'm with you.
I was just saying the other day that I never get sick of that song. In my mind nothing can beat the Pernice Brothers' "Yours, Mine & Ours" for summer auditory delight. It even has a song about drought! However, my 2008 summer fave is "The Stoop" by Little Jackie. Check it out and be transported to Bed Stuy: http://www.imeem.com/littlejackie/music/GcKJVKgU/little_jackie_the_stoop/
